As a little girl, I remember sitting with Where the Sidewalk Ends, or my CD player blasting Céline Dion ballads. I was finding magic in the world of Harry Potter, devouring classic novels for school, and crying at films and TV shows that moved me.
Stories have always mattered to me. They’ve shaped who I am, and they continue to connect me to others in meaningful ways. I am a parent with a background in education, a local educator, involved community member and passionate reader.
While there is a vast selection of extracurriculars out there, it seems an opportunity for children to continue hearing stories aloud and having a space to engage with books in a small group setting was missing.
